Kalakhadira (Acacia catechu) is a well-regarded Ayurvedic herb traditionally used for skin disorders, oral health, and wound healing. Modern research supports its anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and anticancer properties.

Botanical name: Acacia catechu. Also known as: Black Catechu, Black Cutch, Catechu, Cutch, Cutch Tree, Dark Catechu, Gum Catechu, Khair, Khadira, Katha, Kachu.

Dosage

Powder (Churna): 1–3 grams, twice daily with warm water or honey. Decoction (Kashayam): 10–20 grams of chips boiled down to 100–200 ml, taken once or twice daily. Tablet (Khair Ghan): 500 mg tablets, 1–2 tablets twice daily post-meal. Oil Infusion: Topical application 2–3 times daily for joint pain or skin lesions.
