Meta-analyses of up to 15 RCTs and databases tracking 20+ RCTs show that topical Arnica preparations can effectively reduce bruising, swelling, and pain after trauma or surgery. Evidence also supports its use for reducing pain and improving function in osteoarthritis, comparable to some NSAID gels, and for alleviating muscle soreness.
